Default Xbox Series X Tech Specs and List of Features

Xbox Series X Tech Specs and List of Features

CPU, GPU, and RAM Capabilities
On Februrary 24th, Microsoft announced that the Xbox Series X will have 12 teraflops of GPU power, which will consist of a custom AMD Radeon RNDA Navi GPU - and will hold a GDDR6 RAM for memory. The Xbox Series X will also support up to 120 frames per second on its new console.

Microsoft plans also to use a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU chip with an 8 core for processing, and will support "variable rate shading", and hardware accelerated DirectX Raytracing.

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer changed his Twitter profile photo to an image of the Xbox Series X processor in January 2020.

Due to its processing power, it will also support a quick resume function for multiple games simultaneously.

Optical Drive and Ports
The Xbox Series X comes equipped with an optical drive and a Type-A USB port on the front.

During CES, AMD showed what was at first thought to be the actual back of the Xbox Series X, but AMD later stated that it was not the official design. The mock back showed five additional ports ? there were two HDMI ports, two USB-C port, an ethernet port, and an optical out port. [1]Xbox series x rear.png

Video Output - High Definition Capabilities
Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Series X will support a native 4K resolution, and will eventually be able to support up to 8K, likely with upscaling. It will also be able to render up to 120 frames per second.

Storage
In terms of storage, we know at the Xbox Series X will offer a Solid State Drive to drastically increase the speed at which games and other applications can be loaded.

However, we do not yet know what size the SSD will be, as they are often more expensive than a traditional hard drive. There may also be plants to incorporate external storage capabilities - but we do not know of them yet.

Backwards Compatibility
At E3 2019, Microsoft's Phil Spencer was quoted as saying that the Xbox Series X will eventually be able to take advantage of four generations of Xbox games and accessories. This may also hold true for controllers, headsets, and perhaps even the Kinect and Xbox Smartglass.

Microsoft confirmed that this will mean that the Xbox Series X will support backwards compatibility all the way back to original Xbox games.
